AI Usage Policy
Last updated: 24 June 2026
AI is at the heart of GROW — Sprout, the plant/soil/garden/room scanners, smart care suggestions and Garden Studio all use it. This page explains, honestly, what our AI can and can't do, and how to use it safely. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. What the AI does
- Sprout — a friendly AI companion that answers gardening questions, gives tips and narrates your garden.
- Scanners — image analysis that tries to identify plants and spot diseases, pests, soil conditions and room/garden context from a photo.
- Smart care — watering, companion-planting, sunlight and seasonal suggestions tailored to your plants and local weather.
- Garden Studio & design tools — AI-generated redesign images and rough, illustrative cost estimates.
2. Its limitations (please read)
- AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Plant and disease identification, soil readings and pest detection from a photo can be wrong.
- It is general guidance only — not professional horticultural, financial, structural, legal, medical or safety advice.
- Cost estimates are rough illustrations, not quotes.
- Generated images are creative impressions, not literal plans or guarantees of a result.
- Results can vary between attempts and depend heavily on photo quality and lighting.
3. Using AI safely
- Never eat a plant, fruit, fungus or seed identified by the app without independent expert confirmation.
- Don't rely solely on GROW for decisions affecting health, safety, food consumption or significant expenditure — get a qualified professional's view.
- Follow manufacturer instructions and the law when using compost, fertilisers, pesticides or chemicals.
- GROW does not guarantee any gardening outcome (plant survival, yield, pest control, soil improvement, etc.).
4. Your data & AI
When you use an AI feature, we send only what's needed (e.g. your photo or question) to trusted AI providers — currently Google (Gemini), Cloudflare AI and image-generation providers; this may change as the app evolves. We may store AI-generated outputs against your account to power features like garden history and memories. We ask providers not to train their general models on your content where that option is available. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
